Facebook Lite – Thoughts

Aug 20 2009 Published by under The Internets

I logged into Facebook earlier today, like I always do as part of my morning ritual, and behold ! Apparently I was  to use Facebook Lite.

Facebook Lite

Like every geeky little tech blogger out there, I couldnt resist checking it out.

So i headed over to Lite.Facebook.com and here’s what I got :

Facebook Lite

Egads. While I like the simplicity that they were going for, after having been a Twitter user for so long, Facebook lite still looks like it needs a lot of work to get it anywhere near Twitterland.

For one thing, my Homepage was filled with random bits of info pulled in from both people I actually bother about, and people  I couldnt care less about. And there’s no way (yet) to hide these people. Also the random bits of updates make it look way too messy and confusing. Person A shared a video, Person B’s commenting on someone else’s Album, Person C “liked” someone’s pic. I thought they’d just aim for status updates but this is a huge mess at the moment. Maybe have seperate tabs for Photo and Video updates ? That might work ?

That being said, I imagine Facebook lite would look really nice on Mobile devices though.

Ah well, atleast the profile page looks neater now. I like what they’ve done with it.

Facebook Lite

Thankfully, Facebook Lite isnt yet public yet and has some time to make things less cluttered. Here’s hoping, eh ?
