More Hours in the Day, Please?

Dec 02 2010 Published by under Random

Ack.

I’ve been slacking off, havent I?

Quite the opposite actually. I’ve just been so darn busy that I havent had the time to just sit down and write a basic blog post. Mental, really.

But hey, Christmas Vacation this 20th! Can.not.wait.

How’s everyone else been in the meanwhile :) ?

Scars

Sep 01 2010 Published by under A Day in the Life

I’ve always prided myself on the strict moral guidelines I follow. It’s a bit messed up I’d admit, but i’ve always been very clear on what is right, and what is wrong.

Now, due to these severely messed up moral views, I’m a very helpful, unselfish and chivalrous person, even when I don’t want to be. This makes me a very easy target for when someone needs a sucker to do some dirty work.

And I’ve had to deal with that, more times than I can remember.

Which is why it always breaks me, when someone I’ve helped, stood by and supported so many times, on so many things, goes and rips my heart out.

I have major trust issues with people as it is. It takes a lot for me to open up completely to someone. Let my defenses down, so to speak. Then these things come along and leave such a giant scar.

But hey, the good thing about Scars, is that they’re always there to remind you. Not to make the same stupid freakkin mistake again.

Confession

Mar 03 2010 Published by under A Day in the Life, Random

When I’m bored or tired I can get sarcastic.

And when I get sarcastic, I can get in trouble because it’s been made pretty clear that my particular “type” of sarcasm really isn’t understood by anyone else on the planet except me.

So, what I consider “funny” and somewhat “playful” is often understood as “rude” and “jerkface.”

Yeah, I’m totally going to work on that from now on.

Blackouts and Candles

Oct 21 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

Ah another day another thing falling apart. We had a blackout in the late evening today.

Candle in the Dark

And… and…. and our Power Backup decided to go Kaput. Time to break out the Candles.

Candle in the Dark

Luckily a friend of mine gave me this neat Giant Ekram Candle for Diwali. I’d normally keep these kinda things, them being precious and special and all. But I figured “Hey its going to sit alone and gather dust unless I use it” lol.

Candle in the Dark

And yes, these pictures were taken on a Nokia N97. Ha just had to plug that in.

Needless to mention, the power came back in about an Hour. And there I was with a gazillion pics of Candles and Flames.

Eesh. I need help.

Sometimes your Day just drags you out of Bed

Sep 05 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

Take today for instance. There I was, fast asleep at 5:30am, dreaming of driving a Mustang down the Autobahn, when suddenly BAMP! my day starts.

My dog jumps on my bed and barks her little tail off trying to wake me up. I wake up at first going “WTF?” and then realizing my fan is spinning at about three times the speed it normally does. Then I see Sparks fly out of my Modem and several plug points in my room.

My brain switches to emergency mode and i run all around my room switching everything off.

But ofcourse, it was too late. My Modem was fried, my Computer UPS was fried, a plug point extension was screwed, and worst of all, WORST OF ALL, my precious Creative 5.1 speakers were fried. Sigh.

I mean they werent the best speakers in the world, but dammit they survived 5 years with me here in India and now they dont work.

Gah.

So apparently my neighbour’s tree fell on the bunch of wires between two electric poles, and that send a nice solid jolt of current to my house which was the thing that destroyed everything.

Freakkin neighbours. They’re nice people though, and they’ve really helped me out a ton of times. But still, dammit people, keep your trees from falling on electric wires !

The worst part about today was not just the unusual and frightening start to it, but the fact that I spent the whole day waiting. Waiting for people to come fix things so I can get on my way to resuming my regular routine. Eessh.

Called up Airtel Broadband for a new modem at 9am. They got a new one in at 1pm.

Called up my local Computer shop for a new UPS at 9:30am. They got a new one in at 4pm.

Gah.

At this rate, I’ll never save up any money at all.

I’m in a very bad mood now. One that’s being increasingly worse because of the stupidity of people around me.

I so need to move.

Could I have some Chicken Curry Please ?

Aug 07 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

Eesh. Having the flu is no fun. I’ve been down and out for this entire week. Laying around in Bed isnt really as much fun as you’d think it is. Got checked up at the hospital yesterday and turns out its just an infection. yaay.

…..

Anywho, so my doctor tells me i should have “normal” food for the next couple days. Nothing with oil or spices in it.

Only one problem with that. I’m in India. South India. What doesnt have oil or spices in it here ? Eeesh.

That ironic seeing how there’s SO much variety in food here. There’s literally like thousands of dishes from each state in India, and a gazillion variants of each.

Finally, the genius that I am, I figured “Oh I guess a Chicken Curry and Rice sounds normal enough“.

So I call up the only restaurant in this crazy little town that delivers, and this is what happens.

=============

Me: “Hey there, I’d like to place an order please”

Waiter: “Yes Sir ?”

Me: “Do you have Chicken curry on your menu by any chance ?”

Waiter: “Yes Sir !”

Me: “Great. Could I have some Chicken Curry Please ? and….”

Waiter: “What type of Chicken Curry Sir ?”

Waiter: “There’s Spicy Chicken Curry, North Indian Chicken Curry, South Indian Chicken Curry, (<–insert atleast 5 more types of Chicken Curry here–>)”

Me: (Fack) “Uhhh….which one is the least spicy ? Because I have the Flu and my doctor told me not to have anything too spicy.”

Waiter: “We can make the South Indian Chicken Curry Less Spicy.”

Me: “So…. the South Indian Chicken Curry is the least spicy then ?”

Waiter: “So that will be one South Indian Chicken Curry.”

Me: “…..”

Me: ….”Uhhh……yeah okay”…

Waiter: “Would you like some Rice with that Sir ?”

Me: “Sure.”

Waiter: “What type of Rice sir ? We have boiled Rice, brown Rice, White Rice.”

Me: (Facepalm)…. “Uhh….White Rice will do I guess.”

===============

20 Minutes later I get the spiciest curry in the history of Chicken Curries.

Sigh.

Needless to say, I couldnt eat much of that. Atleast it wasnt a total waste, my Dog got to eat most of the chicken (spices washed away of course).

The funny thing is, this chicken curry wasnt anything like the type my Dad makes. And hes South Indian lol, so I assumed the “South Indian” chicken curry would taste something like that. But noooo.

And fak no, I’m not trying the other types of Chicken curry on the menu to find out which one it is :P

The good news is, that I’m feeling much better today. And an ol’friend of mine is back in town. Hopefully will be un-sick by evening time and get to hang out with a couple friends. Ah the good life :P

Rani in Big Bazaar

Jul 30 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

Holy wtf batman. They’re selling Rani in Big Bazaar here in Udupi.

30072009019

Ahh life is good.

For those of you who dont know wtf i’m talking about. Rani is a local canned drink back in Kuwait that was always there, always tasted great, and was a nice break from the usual Soda drinks.

The ones in Big Bazaar are way smaller than the actual Rani cans back home. But hey, atleast here’s one more thing I dont have to complain about anymore.

All those years of NFS finally paid off

Jul 19 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

My second day of driving went along pretty decent. I suprised myself with how well i managed it.

Driving in India is absolutely insane. My drive from the car showroom to my house was definitely the scariest moments of my life. People in my lane, buses overtaking other vehicles and heading towards me on the same road, Dogs crossing the road, Cows all over the place, people running across the road. All i could think was “Fack I’m going to die“.

But after 4 years of riding a motorbike over there, it turned out to be pretty manageable. I’ve been driving all around the place later yesterday, and all of today.

Also, all those years of NFS are finally paying off. Heh.

I can haz Car !

Jul 17 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

5 Years ago, i stepped into a bike showroom and said “Whats the fastest, most powerful bike you’ve got?” and bought it.

3 Days ago, I stepped into a car showroom and said “Whats the cheapest decent car you got ?”.

Ah what a difference a couple years can make.

Also, 5 years ago, I was still a student, and my Dad paid all my bills. Fast forward to now, and I’m earning myself and paying my own bills.

After a point of time, you also realise “Whats the freakkin point ?”. In a town like Manipal, I’m not out to Impress anyone with a fancy pair of wheels. Nowadays I’m all about just trying to get by every day.

I’ve become the average joe, trying to get by, living his life, and working hard at what he does.

And that’s what lead me to buy this :

17072009469

Ah the perfect car for me. It wont get any looks. Its not going to impress anyone. It wont win any races.

But it’ll get me from point A to point B.

And with the kind of rain we’ve been having lately, it’ll get me there dry.

So… This is How I Feel Nowadays

Jun 20 2009 Published by under A Day in the Life

dontknow

And… that is that.

I hate to break it to anyone that’s been fooled thus far, but, I really don’t know what I’m doing half the time and the other half is somewhat of a fake attempt to look like I know what I’m doing when I really don’t.

So. Hah.

From H3. Seemed to describe my situation right now, so well that I just stole his entire blog post lol. Coincidentally he’s also the guy who designed the Theme I use on the front page of ClintonJeff.com.
